A crowd estimated at 500 people gathered on Memorial Day for the Dedication and Grand Opening Ceremony for the new Forest Hill Memorial Park. The park, located at 4503 Forest Hill Circle, honors Veterans and Forest Hill Public Safety officers. The O.D. Wyatt Color Guard presented the colors and the invocation was offered by Pastor R. L. Crochet, Sr., Mt. Zion Christ Holy Sanctified Church.
There are more than 700 names already memorialized at the Park with more than 100 ready for the next engraving. This is an ongoing project. If you want to add a name, go the City’s website: www.foresthilltx.org and get the form or pick one up at City Hall. Deadline for the next engraving submissions is November 1.
City officials have said they want to make Forest Hill the Veterans Capital of the Metroplex. The Memorial Park, which is visible from I-20, is drawing a steady stream of visitors. It is open from sunrise to sunset.
