The Texas State Fire Marshall's office has announced that the City of Crowley has achieved a property protection class of 2.
Only a small percentage of cities in Texas achieve this classification which represents excellence in in the water system and the fire department.
The lower the fire rating, said City Manager and longtime Fire Chief Robert Loftin, the better emergency coverage residents enjoy, and the cheaper their insurance rates.
"Our citizens should begin to see the results in their insurance premiums," Loftin said, noting when he started with the then-volunteer fire department over 20 years ago, Crowley was rated as Class-8. "We made a plan and worked really hard to get it down to a four. Over the last two years, we got it down to a three, then challenged the three to get it lowered to a two. If it weren't for a whole lot of effort by a whole lot of city staff, this would not be possible."
The Property Protection Class or PPC rating is an important part of homeowners insurance and business property insurance rating. The diligent efforts of the City of Crowley in improving the Crowley PPC will mean real savings for Crowley residents.
